Call for Applications: Transnet Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) Programme 2026

The South African state-owned logistics company Transnet SOC Ltd has opened opportunities for small and medium enterprises to participate in its Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) Programme.

The programme is designed to support the growth of small businesses and integrate them into Transnet’s supply chain, helping them become sustainable suppliers within the logistics, rail, port, and infrastructure sectors. (transnet.net)

About the Transnet ESD Programme

The Enterprise & Supplier Development Programme focuses on strengthening Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) so they can compete effectively in the transportation and logistics industry.

The programme supports Transnet’s broader objectives of:

  • Developing local suppliers and manufacturing capacity

  • Promoting economic transformation and entrepreneurship

  • Increasing participation of small businesses in the supply chain

  • Contributing to the reduction of unemployment and inequality (transnet.net)

Eligibility Criteria

Although criteria may vary depending on the specific call, typical requirements include:

  • The business must qualify as a Small or Medium Enterprise (SME)

  • Must be operational for at least 2–3 years

  • Must operate in sectors relevant to Transnet (e.g., manufacturing, logistics, engineering, services)

  • Must have a viable business model and growth potential

In many cases, preference is given to Black-owned enterprises, women-owned businesses, youth-owned businesses, and enterprises from disadvantaged communities.
