Call for Applications: Gender Empowerment Now! – Women, Peace and Security Programme (Cycle 6)
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research has opened applications for the Gender Empowerment Now! – Women, Peace and Security Programme (Cycle 6).
The programme is designed to strengthen the capacity of gender practitioners, civil society leaders, and activists working on gender equality, peacebuilding, and women’s rights. Participants will receive professional training on gender mainstreaming, leadership, and community engagement to help promote peace and gender equality within their communities. (UNITAR)
The initiative builds on previous cycles conducted between 2021 and 2025, which trained over 220 professionals across the Middle East and North Africa in gender equality and policy implementation. (UNITAR)
About the Programme
The Gender Empowerment Now! – Women, Peace and Security Programme focuses on building leadership skills and empowering professionals to implement gender-responsive initiatives in their institutions and communities.
The programme includes:
Online Training of Trainers (April–May 2026)
Community-level workshops (July–August 2026)
Reflection and reporting sessions (September 2026)
Participants will first attend structured online workshops led by UNITAR experts and later organize community training sessions in their own countries to promote gender equality and social inclusion. (EIN Presswire)

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, applicants must:
Be 28–45 years old
Be actively engaged in gender equality, women’s rights, or peacebuilding
Work with a civil society organization
Have experience or potential in training or facilitation
Be fluent in Arabic (spoken and written)
Have been affiliated with their organization for at least two years
Be available for all programme activities
Applicants must also obtain a letter of support from their organization or partner institution confirming their ability to host a community workshop. (UNITAR)
