Common Good Cyber Fund Grant 2026: Applications Now Open (Up to USD $300,000 in Funding)

The Internet Society Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Common Good Cyber Fund (CGCF) Grant Programme, a global funding initiative designed to strengthen cybersecurity for the public good.

The Common Good Cyber Fund supports nonprofit organizations that play a critical role in protecting civil society, maintaining essential cybersecurity infrastructure, and safeguarding vulnerable communities from digital threats. The programme aims to build a more secure, resilient, and trustworthy Internet by investing in organizations that provide cybersecurity services, develop innovative security solutions, and protect high-risk users worldwide. Grant Value

Successful organizations will receive multi-year operating grants ranging from USD $100,000 to USD $300,000 over a two-year period.

For the 2026 funding cycle, the Internet Society Foundation expects to award at least USD $3.5 million to eligible nonprofit organizations across the globe. Approximately 15 organizations are expected to be funded through this open call. (The Security Ledger with Paul F. Roberts)

Programme Objectives

The Common Good Cyber Fund seeks to support nonprofit organizations working in one or more of the following areas:

  • Maintaining and strengthening critical cybersecurity infrastructure.

  • Delivering scalable cybersecurity support and protection for Internet users.

  • Protecting civil society organizations, journalists, human rights defenders, and other high-risk communities from digital threats.

  • Improving Internet safety, resilience, and digital security through innovative technologies and public-interest cybersecurity initiatives.

  • Strengthening cybersecurity capacity, threat intelligence sharing, incident response, and secure communications infrastructure. (Internet Society Foundation)

Who Can Apply?

Applications are invited from registered nonprofit organizations (including U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations or international equivalents) that:

  • Maintain critical cybersecurity infrastructure.

  • Deliver cybersecurity services or technical assistance.

  • Develop cybersecurity tools and open-source solutions.

  • Protect vulnerable communities from cyber threats.

  • Strengthen digital resilience and online safety.

  • Have the organizational capacity to manage grant funding and implement impactful cybersecurity programmes.

Organizations based in the Global Majority, including Africa, are particularly encouraged to apply where they demonstrate strong ecosystem-building potential. (Internet Society Foundation)

  • Closing Time: 21:00 UTC

Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants are encouraged to register early in the Foundation's online grants management system (Fluxx), as registration may take 1–2 business days to complete. (Internet Society Foundation)

  • Tax identification document.

  • Governing documents (such as Articles of Incorporation or Constitution).
