PRESS RELEASE
FG Targets 70,000 Youths for Market-Driven Skills Training Under IDEAS-TVET Programme
The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing unemployment and strengthening the nation's workforce by targeting 70,000 Nigerian youths for market-driven skills training under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme.
The initiative is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant skills that meet current labour market demands while promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and self-reliance. Through the programme, beneficiaries will receive competency-based training in various technical and vocational trades, enabling them to secure employment, establish sustainable businesses, and contribute to national economic development.
The IDEAS-TVET Programme focuses on enhancing the quality and accessibility of technical and vocational education by partnering with accredited Technical Service Providers (TSPs), industries, and relevant stakeholders across the country. The programme emphasizes hands-on learning, workplace exposure, digital skills, and industry certification to ensure graduates possess globally competitive competencies.
Speaking on the initiative, government officials emphasized that investing in skills development remains one of the most effective strategies for tackling youth unemployment, reducing poverty, and accelerating economic growth. The programme also supports Nigeria's broader agenda of industrialization, innovation, and inclusive economic transformation.
The Federal Government encourages eligible youths from all states of the federation to take advantage of the opportunities provided under the IDEAS-TVET Programme. Participants will gain practical experience in sectors such as leather works, fashion design, ICT, welding and fabrication, hospitality, agriculture, construction, renewable energy, and other high-demand industries.
As one of the accredited Technical Service Providers under the IDEAS-TVET Programme, Edoshoe Manufacturing Company, in collaboration with Hybridteck Global Business Consult, commends the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the World Bank, and all development partners for their continued investment in youth empowerment through skills development.
The success of the programme demonstrates that equipping young people with employable skills is a sustainable pathway to creating jobs, fostering innovation, and building a more prosperous Nigeria.
Together, we are building a skilled workforce, empowering communities, and shaping the future of Nigeria—one skill at a time.
