Edo State Board for Technical Education Launches Expanded Skills Development Training Programme in Partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education

The Edo State Board for Technical Education (ESTBE) is proud to announce the launch of a transformative Skills Development Training Programme, implemented in strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education. This initiative reinforces our collective commitment to advancing technical and vocational education across Edo State while preparing young people, women, and vulnerable groups for high-demand jobs in the modern economy.

As Nigeria continues to reposition its workforce for national growth and global competitiveness, Edo State stands at the forefront of innovation, investing in technical capacity-building and the empowerment of its citizens.

A New Era for Technical and Vocational Skills

The Skills Development Training Programme is designed to:

  • Equip trainees with industry-relevant, entrepreneurial, and digital skills.

  • Strengthen the quality of teaching and learning across technical colleges and vocational centres.

  • Expand access to market-oriented skills for youths, artisans, and professionals.

  • Enhance TVET institutions to meet national standards under the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) framework.

  • Foster industry partnerships that support job creation and enterprise development.

Through this initiative, Edo State is strengthening its role as a national leader in skills development and workforce transformation.

Focus Areas of the Training Programme

The programme covers a wide range of skill areas, including:

  • Digital Skills: Digital marketing, ICT proficiency, software basics, branding, and online business skills.

  • Technical Skills: Electrical installation, welding, carpentry, motor vehicle mechanics, and building construction.

  • Creative and Industrial Skills: Fashion design, leather works, shoemaking, printing technology, and craft production.

  • Green and Modern Skills: Solar installation, renewable energy systems, and climate-smart enterprise models.

  • Entrepreneurship & Business Skills: Access to markets, financial literacy, cooperative development, and start-up mentoring.

Each training module aligns with the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is assessed according to the NSQ system, ensuring beneficiaries receive globally competitive certifications.
